Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Wright Firearms Training ("WFT", "we", "us") collects through this website and our registration system, why we collect it, who can see it, and the choices you have. WFT is owned and operated by Richard D. Wright Jr. and provides firearms training in Carlock and Atlanta, Illinois.
Information we collect
When you register for a class, the registration form asks for:
- Your legal name, date of birth, mobile phone, email address and home address.
- Your driver's license number and expiration, FOID number, and current CCL number and expiration (for renewals).
- Copies of identity and eligibility documents you choose to upload: driver's license, FOID card, current CCL, DD214/NGB 22 (for the military exemption) and prior-training certificates. You may choose to provide any of these later instead.
- Any health issue staff should be aware of and any accommodation you request.
- Your class choice, rental and ammunition choices, discount code, payment method and payment reference, your electronic signature, and your acceptance of the class documents and policies.
During and after class, WFT records attendance, live-fire qualification scores, pass/fail results, training hours and certificate status.
When you use our other forms, we collect what you type in: the contact form (name, email, phone, subject, message), the private-training request (name, email, phone, preferred location, training goals), the review form (name, email, phone, optional registration number, rating and review) and the student survey (every question is optional, including name and email).
Automatically, our servers record the IP address and time of form submissions and sign-in attempts so we can limit abuse and investigate security problems.
How we use your information
- To register you, hold your seat, confirm your class and send reminders.
- To run the class safely, including any health or accommodation needs you tell us about.
- To verify your identity and eligibility for the course you selected (for example, a current CCL for a renewal or a DD214 for the military exemption).
- To keep training records and issue your course certificate, and to meet Illinois State Police requirements for concealed carry instructors and training records.
- To send your signed certificate to Above Biometrics when you ask us to, so it can be used with your application.
- To answer your questions, follow up on private-training requests and publish reviews you submit (you can choose to be shown as "Anonymous Verified Student"; your email is never published).
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Where your information is stored and who can see it
- Registration records are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database, and uploaded documents are stored in private Cloudflare R2 storage. Neither is publicly accessible.
- Only authenticated WFT staff can view registration records and documents. Staff access requires a WFT staff login, and document downloads are logged.
- The student records portal shows you your own record after you verify it with your registration code, date of birth and driver's license or FOID number. It never displays your full DL or FOID number back to you.
Service providers we use
- Cloudflare hosts this website, the database and document storage.
- Resend delivers the emails we send you (confirmations, reminders, certificates and replies).
- Twilio delivers text messages, when text messaging is turned on.
- Venmo and Cash App handle payments. Payment buttons open those services; we never collect or store card or bank details on this website. We only record the payment method and any reference you give us.
- Above Biometrics receives your signed certificate only when you request that it be sent.
- YouTube plays the videos on our videos page (using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode). YouTube may set its own cookies when you play a video.
We may also disclose information when required by law, such as to the Illinois State Police or in response to a valid legal request.
Cookies
This website uses only two cookies, and both are strictly necessary:
- Staff session cookie (
wft_session) keeps WFT staff signed in to the staff system. It expires after 12 hours. - Student portal cookie keeps you signed in to the student records portal after you verify your record. It expires after 12 hours or when you sign out.
This website does not currently load Google Analytics or any advertising or tracking scripts. If that changes, we will update this policy first.
How long we keep information
We keep registration records, qualification results and certificates as long as needed to maintain training records and meet Illinois State Police record-keeping requirements. Contact messages, private-training requests and survey responses are kept only as long as needed to respond and improve our training. Security logs are kept for a limited time.
Your choices and rights
You may ask to see the information we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, or delete information we are not required to keep. Email [email protected] with your name and registration number (if you have one). We will verify your identity before making changes. Some training records must be kept to meet legal requirements, and we will tell you if that applies.
Children
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information online.
Security
We use private storage, staff-only access, access logging and encrypted connections (HTTPS) to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please upload only your own documents and contact us right away if you believe your information has been misused.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date below.
